Enlarging system partition?

I got myself a new, larger hard disk and transferred the data of my old
system disk to it using a disk imager.
That worked fine (i.e. I am now already working on that new disk), but
that only gave me a 1:1 copy, i.e. I still need to enlarge the system
partition to make use of the yet unallocated space.

Does WinXP have any tool to enlarge the system partition that it has
booted from?

I have an old version of PartitionMagic, but it reports errors on my
disk and I read, that - since PM hasn't been developed further since
years - it might have problems with nowadays disk sizes - so I am
hesitant to use it, since I obviously don't want to scramble my data.
What is a good (and preferably free or at least cheap) alternative to
enlarge my system partition?

Using XP's Disk Management will destroy existing data. Hiren's BootCD
contains all the tools you'll ever need. Or want.

So don't read this, ju.c just might be right.

A good imaging software would also have allowed you to resize the
destination partition. Acronis True Image Home does just that. I've
used it to move my laptop drive from 80 to 120 gig drives. But then
this is water over the dam.

For most of my image/partition work I'm always using BootIt:

It's actually a boot manager, but also a partition/imaging tool. It's
pretty small and installs to a floppy (or bootable CD), and even the
trial version is able to resize/slide partitions.

Hello,

Like all things Linux, GParted Live is free and can work on NTFS volumes
as well. It's a CD image you can download and burn which has the GParted
partition managing software on it.
