To insert a reference from Endnote into Word, click in the Word document
where you want the reference, then go to Endnote, click on the reference you
want, go to tools, cite-while-you-write, insert citation (still in Endnote).
There is also a toolbar button for this - it looks like an arrow pointing
down to two square brackets. This will insert the citation where you want it
and the full reference (formatted for a reference list) at the end of the
document. By playing with Endnote options you can also set it up to
automatically return to Word after you insert the reference.
