End Automatic Explorer Folder Expand

XP Pro.

I cannot stand the way it automatically expands the
folders while in Explorer by me simply clicking on the
folder name! Many of my folders contain over 500 sub-
folders, so this expansion routine forces me to wait for
it to open only so I can close it back up and continue
on. After all, we do have a left and right pane in
Explorer.

I have already set a universal folder option to require a
double-click to open an item, but this is not the same as
my problem.

Any registry hacks to change this?
