The motherboard on my Desktop fried. So I am trying to recover the files to
my laptop and external USB drives. Unfortunately I had used the Windows NT
encryption, which lets only the user that encrypted the files view them. I
will never use Windows encryption again, I'll stick with AxCrypt for what I
need.
I have the drives in an external USB drive carrier and I can see all the
files and transfer, or use, the ones that weren't encrypted. However, when
I try to do anything with the encrypted files I get an access is denied
error. I have tried changing my log in name and the name of the computer so
that they are the same as the desktop user to no avail. I disabled
"Security Accounts Manager" and that didn't do any good either. Does anyone
have any hope?
