I'd like to know about encrypted folders.
1. What key is used to do the encryption? It does not appear to be my login
password since I changed that but I can still read the encrypted files. Is
it maybe tied to the processor ID?
2. How strong is the encryption? 56-bit, or 128, or ??
3. What is the algorithm, TDES, or AES, or ??
4. If someone were to take out my hard drive with encrypted files on it and
put in another system, could they read them?
5. Other than using PGP or some other external program, is there a way to
add another key to the encryption, or extend the current key in some
user-specific way?
6. I have not noticed any speed degredation, but has anyone done any
benchmarks on the system performance impact of running from encrypted
folders?
Thanks,
Tony
