Encrypted file errors

I cannot access picture files. Properties shows them as encrypted even though
I know I did not encrypt them. When I try and "uncheck" the Encrypted check
box and apply, I receive an error message saying Access Denied. There are
other files i the same folder that were encrypted but these were not. It
never asks for an encrytpion key.

Any ideas?

Perhaps when the "other files" in the folder were encrypted, the folder
itself also was encrypted. If a folder is encrypted, then all files
added to the folder are encrypted when they are added.

The "Access denied" message appears when opening an encrypted file.

Cause: The file was encrypted by Encrypting File System (EFS) using a
public key certificate and the associated private key for this
certificate is not available on this computer.

Solution:

• Locate the private key for the appropriate certificate and import it
onto this computer using the Certificates snap-in.
