Encoding question

B

Bob Havens

I am using Win. XP Home and IE 6.

When I go to "View-Encoding" I note that "Auto select" is checked. I
also note that "Unicode (UTF-8)" has a dot by it. There is no dot by
"Western European-Windows".

Which one should have the dot by it?

Does it make any difference as long as I have "Auto Select" checked?

Thank you,
Bob.

Many pages tell the browser what encoding to use. If Auto Select is checked
IE will obey the page. This is a good thing.
