Enclosures with IDE on rear panel ?? - are these available anywhere ??

I have tried USB 2.0 and it is just too slow - much slower than my
internal IDE drives. My case is full - so I would like to buy an 18"
round IDE cable, and run the cable out my case and to an enclosure.

The problem is - all I can find is USB and Firewire. Does anyone know
where I might find an enclosure that either has an IDE connector in
the back, or just an empty slot that I could pass it through?

You want eSATA.

You want eSATA.

.... since IDE has a pretty hard 60cm lenght limit and bulky cables.
SATA has 1m and I think eSATA has actually 2m lenght limit.

They make plug-in hard drive bays with ide connectors on the back
No reason you couldn't use one of them as an external box.
Gotta get power from somewhere. And there will be power sequencing
issues.
Bigger case?
