I use Windows 2000 at work and at home. My machine at work supports type
ahead in the file browser dialogs (File Open, File Save, etc.). My
machine at home does not. Where do I enable this feature?

Right-click IE icon on desktop | Properties | Content | Auto Complete... | Check EVERYTHING there.

Thanks for the tip, but everything is checked. Don't these options
affect only IE? The option I need is with Windows Explorer and its file
browser.

Never mind. I found it here in the registry.
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\AutoComplete

Very intuitive place to set such things.

What you are looking for is called Auto Complete. Yes in my Microsoft Office Products I have that. Not sure about Windows Explorer since it doesn'r have the dialog boxes you mention. Also there is really no difference between Windows Explorer and Microsoft Internet Explorer. When it is said that the browser is an integral part of the Wiondows operating system what is meant by that is that IE IS the shell aka Windows Explorer.

Sigh. Almost all of that is wrong.

would you please stop posting bad information.
