Enabling add ons for IE

I got some spyware and somehow it disabled my add ons in IE. When I go to
the tools bar wanting to select "Manage Add Ons" it's letters are not black
like the rest of the choices. I've searched the help menu and tried all the
suggestions. Obviously there must be something I don't know to do. Any
suggestions?

Does it also not work if you try Tools menu> Internet Options> Programs tab> Manage
Add-ons button?

Are you using IE6, or are you using IE7 Beta or RC1?

Is this a home computer, or a work computer owned by your employer?
