enable small user to have "out of office" capability

I am a small office user and I really like Outlook. One capability that
Outlook student edition lacks is the "out of office" capability that I had in
the Corporate world.
It would be greatly appreciated if this feature could be included in Outlook
for small users.

Absolutely, which is why I recommend using your ISP "vacation" message if
they offer one.

After furious head scratching, Karl Burrows asked:

| Doesn't this also propagate spam since the auto reply is ignorant of
| who is sending the email?
|
| | you can do it - you need to use rules wizard

It can - or you can set the rule to only reply to people in your address
book or meeting other specific conditions. Not that many spammers would get
the reply because they use false addresses that bounce, so it really doesn't
matter - when your mail server accepts the connection it validates the
address as potentially valid.

I don't use auto-replies for other reasons - specifically because I don't
want people to know I take a lot of long weekends. <g>
