Empty "Entertainment" Folder

In Accessories, the "entertainment" folder shows as "Empty". How do I get the
contents back. I am specifically concerned with the sound. When I open the
control panel and select "Sounds and Audio Devices Properties", I click on
"show volume icon in the task bar" and I get the following message: "Windows
cannot display the volume control on the taskbar because the volume control
program has not been installed". To Install it, Use Add and Remove Programs
in Control Panel"

When I opened Add and Remove, I tried "Add New Programs" and the two
choices are to add from a CD-ROM or floppy disk or to add new windows
features, devices, drivers and updates, click Windows Update. I have tried
both things and I am lost. Can someone walk me through recovering the
contents of this "Entertainment Folder"?

Seems like you need to install the Sound drivers for your specific sound
card.
If you have a mobo with build in audio the drivers would be on the mobo
drivers CD

Thanks Peter,
I did find and install sndvol32.exe and the volume control is back, but
sound recorder and whatever else is in that folder is still missing. I tried
the driver thing but no luck. Still working on it.

Thanks

Manually re-create the links (shortcuts) to the items. In my Entertainment
folder I have only three items; they are:

1). Volume Control =
C:\WINDOWS\system32\sndvol32.exe
(you have this now)

2). Sound Recorder =
C:\WINDOWS\system32\sndrec32.exe
(create a link with this as the target)

3).Windows Media Player =
"C:\Program Files\Windows Media Player\wmplayer.exe"
(create a link with this as the target)

Then put them back into your Entertainment folder.
(*NB; if you find that one or more of the other items are missing from your
computer, then you might have to go to the 'Add Windows Components' item in
'Add/Remove Programs' in control panel).
