sound problem

Hello to everyone.

It seems that I have a problem with my sound card.
More specifically when I do

Start>Accessories>Entertainment>Volume Control

I take the message:
"The are no active mixer devices available..."

Note my laptop plays system sounds.

Thanks in advance.

Go to Start --> Run, and type in services.msc.

A window will pop up with a list of services. Scroll down to Windows Audio.
Right-click
and click on Properties.

Make sure that "Startup type" is set to automatic. Also, make sure, under
"Service
status," start is selected.

At first let me say that I really appreciate your help.
I did what you said. I also did restart and the volume appeared
in the taskbar menu.
I opened it and I closed it, and suddenly disapeared from the taskbar.
I think something interacts with the sound card and causes the
problem.

Dinitris, I would first try reinstalling the Sound card Drivers. I
think we are talking about a integrated sound chip on the laptop
motherboard. The Audio Drivers should be on a Software CD that came with
the laptop.
