"Empty Deleted Items Folder upon exiting" not working

I am using Outlook for Office 2000. Outlook for Office XP was
previously installed in the computer but was uninstalled. Now when I
have any items in my Delete Folder with the setting "Empty Deleted Items
Folder upon exiting", I get the message asking if I really want to
delete but the items in the folder are only sometimes deleted. Any ideas
about why this intermittant failure to delete might be occuring?

Nevermind. I ended up uninstalling Outlook 2000 and installing Outlook
2002 which solved the problem.
