Embedding PowerPoint Presentation in Word

I have a 7 slide PowerPoint presentation and i embed it in word through the
following process:
Insert-Object-Create from File-Check Display as icon and then Browse and
select the file.

When a co-worker opens the file he sees "Slide 1 of 1" instead of 1 of 7. I
have tried multiple ways to embed this document all except the "Link to
document" have this same issue.

The version of Office does not seem to have an affect on who can access it.
I checked with a couple other people and these are the stats.
Office 2k3 Pro Sp2(Box1) - Reads the file Correctly
Office 2k3 Pro Sp3(My Box) - Reads the file Correctly
Office 2k3 Pro Sp3(Box2) - Only see Slide 1 of 1

I have tried a detect and repair and that did not work. I have also tried to
recreate both the Word and PowerPoint documents and still the same issue.

Can anyone help?

Update:
I have noticed this issue seems to only show with Office SP3 11.8227.8221.
It works with Office SP3 11.8237.8221.

The issue seems to be; when I try to open a document when the Presentation
was embedded as a slide I would only be able to see 1/1. If i right click and
select "Slide Object->Convert->Convert to:->Microsoft PowerPoint
Presentation-> OK" The file would convert to a presentation and i would be
able to view all slides.

However this function does not work on Office SP3 11.8227.8221. Was there a
patch or update that was geared towards resolving this issue?
