embedded WMP

Hoping and trying relentlessly to get this resolved. I have looked into and
tried all possible reolutions fromthis site for the embedded WMP problem in
IE 6.0 - NO LUCK! Here are the details of the error message I continue to
get right before IE completely shuts down:

AppName: iexplore.exe AppVer: 6.0.2900.2180 ModName: wininet.dll
ModVer: 6.0.2900.2781 Offset: 00078bac

I am running Win XP sp2, latest IE 6.0+, using spybot and lavasoft to filter
spware/adware and have run countless virusscans using Rogers (Canada)
antivirus software. I have cleared all caches, file structures, and relevant
folders, both in XP and through the command prompt as per some solutions
presented in this forum. IE 6.0 is not present for some reason in the
add/remove programs?

Help, I see this is not an uncommon problem!

Thanks,

Jason

I have two laptops that crash from IE 6.0, running on XP sp2 machines.
The error is always with Wininet.dll. Spyware doesnt find anything,
virus doesnt find anything, nothing works. Firefox allows me to use
the internet on them, but I have found now that even launching Windows
Media player that both machines get a Wininet.dll error as
well!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I hope this can be solved. I havnt seen a hotfix or anything for it,
but I know I am not alone.
