embedded user profiles - ?

I recently upgraded from ME to XP using an upgrade disc.
All went well until I set up the user profiles in XP. I
first set up 4 users for each of the individuals in the
household then decided to change/delete some of the user
accounts so that the 2 children were combined in one
account. Now my welcome screen has the correctly updated
user profiles but in the document and settings folder
there were only 2 of the original 4 user folders set up.
I manually created the missing user folders but the
system won't allow me to delete or change the names of
the folders created originally. This would not be a
problem for me except for the fact that the 2 original
folders created were in the children's names and whenever
I log in using my account...all the internet cookies and
site path information register with one of the children's
folders. Is there a way to change these user profile
folders in a more comprehensive manner rather than
redoing the upgrade?

One way to do it is to set users' profiles in the Local Users and Groups UI.
This is probably another one of those things that are more difficult on XP
Home Edition, though.
Help is much better on Windows XP than you might be used to. Check out the
info there for "net user". That should work on Home, too, I believe.

Thanks. After looking into "Help" under "net user" I realized I neglected to tell you that I am not on a network and the XP upgrade was XP Home. If you have any other advice..it would be greatly appreciated.

Ok. Forget anything I wrote before.

You already know how to create/delete accounts. A new account should have a
new profile and it should have its own mydocs.

If there are old folders/files that you can't get rid of, you'll need to
boot into safe mode and "take ownership":
