Embedded audio files vs. linked audio files

I have an '07 presentation that plays at different speeds and/or timings on
different computers. I created it on my computer and moved all files
associated with it to a Shared company drive. I then went to another
computer to play it - either the slide show or the "show" - and neither will
play how it played on my computer where it was created. Does this have to do
with embedded or linked files? I also tried to create a DVD and a CD but
both did the same - all timings were off. Any suggestions? What about
publishing to a "Package for CD"? I tried that too, but the timings were
even worse than before.
