emails, tasks are timed out waiting for a response from the SMPT

I have over 30 tasks in my emails waiting to be sent or received and they are
coming up with errors, "the operation timed out waiting for a response from
the SMPT. I dont understand what this means

It means that communications with your outbound mail server (SMTP) are
taking too long. Have you had this issue before or are you having any other
mail issues now?

What email server are you trying to send them to? Is the server working? If
it's exchange server, ask your administrator to verify the server is
working.
