emails remain in outbox as unsent but have been sent

I am using outlook 2000. It crashed 5 months ago because I let it go over 2gb.
I have fixed it and it sits at 1.3gb now. It crashed again last week. Scanpst
fixed it this time but I am left with the problem that emails remain in
outbox as unsent but have been sent. They obvoisly won't move to sent items.
I can delete them but I need to keep a sent record. I have followed other
discussions on this and tried turning off antivirus on outgoing, deleting to
clear outbox and tried two more outlook fix programmes. Nothing works. Any
ideas?
