emails lost after viewed in unread folder

When uread emails are down loaded into outlook from my Netzero server, they
show up only in the unread folder, not in the IN folder. After they are
viewed in the Unread folder, they are gone and can not be found when doing a
search in all folders.

Your View settings are incorrect. Change the View to see All Messages. You
don't specify what version of Outlook you have, so use View on the menu to
find the correct setting.

Thanks Mary, I am using outlook 2003 / XP Home. View settings are arrange by
date and current view messages. I am not seeing any of the messages I have
just received or viewed in unread. I also ran Detect/Repair under help.
Nothing..

Right click in your toolbar and select to show the Advanced Toolbar. Use
the dropdown to change what messages are "viewed" not arranged by. It is
probably set to Unread Messages - set it to Messages.

After furious head scratching, Brett C asked:

Milly,

I checked and it was set to Messages. I did find a rule set where my name
in TO, then move files to folder??. I ran some test messages through after
turning this rule off and now they are showing up in my in box folder. Any
clue as to finding the messages that have been moved to some unknow folder?
I only have two personal folders in outlook.
Thank you very much for the help,

Use Advanced Find and set your criteria to use the words in the rule that
moved the messages.

I too am having all new mail go into my unread mail folder and not my inbox.
The current view is on "messages" not "unread mail." What do I do?

The "Unread Mail" folder is a SEARCH folder, it's a virtual folder. Mail can
NOT go to the "unread mail" folder. In the Unread Mail folder you should
have a column called "In Folder". (If you haven't, you can add it). That
will tell you where your emails are REALLY going to.
