Emails being delivered to wrong user's mailbox via POP3 / Exchange

Strange issue, had to set up an Exchange server for a small office where they
wanted to access their mail via Outlook POP3 remotely. Tried to talk them
into using OWA but they didn't want to hear it(set in their ways I guess).

Okay, so here is the issue: I had an account set up for myself to test with
that was working fine, I was accessing their Exchange 2003 server via Outlook
Express with no problems. I had a user come over to my workstation where I
had Outlook Express open and running and had her log in to her mailbox via
OWA. From that point forward I have been receiving mail intended for her.
If I log in to my mail box via OWA it's fine just when I check my mail via
POP3 and only on this workstation where she check her mail via OWA. Any
ideas?

What version of Outlook do you have?

Do you have the POP3 account set up to authenticate with SPA (Secure
Password Authentication)? There's a bug (IMHO - a design decision in
other's) in the Windows component that Outlook uses to talk POP3 that
causes it to use credentials obtained from Windows rather than those that
Outlook passes in when using SPA. It may be that the credentials picked
are those of the OWA user in this case. Try turning off SPA and see if it
works.

Yep, using SPA! Sounds like you nailed it. Is there a way to refresh the
credentials? I tried rebooting the workstation, no help. Thanks for your
help! Jeff

Not to my knowledge. You're probably going to want to turn off SPA for
your situation. If you're concerned about plaintext passwords on the wire,
turn on SSL for the account (on the Advanced tab for the account), which
will protect everything, including the password.
