emailing photos from desktop folder

I used to be able to select a set of pics from a folder on my desktop,
right-click to email to someone, resize as required and Outlook Express would
open, I could type the message, delete the picture list and virus message at
the bottom, fill in the "To" box and send them off.

I can get OE to open with the list of photos selected, but then OE seems to
lock up, and no amount of time matters, I can't click on anything. I can
close the window, re-select the pics and do the resize and get OE to pop up
again (only this time the selected pics have a number eg: Vacation 001 (2),
Vacation 002 (2), Vacation 003 (2), ...), and OE still seems to lock up.

I ensured that the OE is default email using other suggestions in this forum
list, I only use IE7 (no probs before with ver. 7), so am at a loss here. I
also notice that it seems to take windows a long time to show the thumbnail
list when opening the folder (360 pics to be sure, but it didn't seem to take
so long before, either).

Any suggestions appreciated.

Lots of info...keep scrolling...

If this is a recent occurrence, it may be
worth a try to do a System Restore to
a time before the issue began.

Next...try the following:

Go to...Start / Run and type
(or copy/paste):

"REGSVR32 SHIMGVW.DLL"
(without the quotes)(Yes, there's
a space between 2 and S)

Click...OK.

A dialog box should report the following:

"DllRegisterServer in SHIMGVW.DLL succeeded"

If that fails...the following info may be worth
a try... No guarantees.

I tried the 1st suggestion - no change in situation. I should also point out
before I go any further, I can still use OE normally to send emails and
attach pictures, etc. I do have Adobe Photoshop that can convert pics to
smaller file sizes, though its an enduring process. I also have Pinnacle
Studio - that had given me grief with trying to burn CD/DVDs (not using
Pinnacle) and wonder if that might have anything to do with it? ((I did
resolve the burning issue with help from these forums, btw.)

So before I do any further action on re-creating identities, if any other
possibility comes up, I'll try tomorrow.
