i use windows mail on my desktop computer with windows vista home premium to
get my email, i will be away for two months this winter and would like to
receive my email on my laptop with windows 7 home premium. how would i go
about switching the email from my desktop to my laptop?

Is the account set up on the laptop yet? That's the first thing to do. If
you delete messages from the server, the laptop will be the only machine
you see the mail on. The desktop machine won't be retrieving any messages
if it isn't running.

Sure. You can do it now and receive the messages on both machines.

If both computers are using the same e-mail address, on both machines:

Tools | Accounts | Mail | Properties | Advanced - Check: Leave a copy of
messages on the server.

On one machine only, check to Delete messages after X days to satisfy your
allotted space you get from your server.

NO ! You will not have any email client on the W7 pc. You will have to
install WLMail on it and set up your accounts to receive mail. Vista WM
does not run on W7. Otherwise you will have to access email from the
accounts' web access.
