Barb

I recently got a new computer with Vista on it. I have an email account from
ptd.net and I'm having a problem accessing this from Windows Mail. It will
download incoming mail a day late as well as send it out a day late. I'm
afraid my POP3 or SMTP could be wrong. Could anyone give me some help in
settling this?
Thank you

It still doesn't work. this is the error message:
he host 'POP3. promail.ptd.net' could not be found. Please verify that you
have entered the server name correctly.
Account: 'promail.ptd.net', Server: 'POP3. promail.ptd.net', Protocol:
POP3, Port: 995, Secure(SSL): Yes, Socket Error: 11001, Error Number:
0x800CCC0

I only see a response if using port 110 at that host address. I get nothing
on port 995.

You didn't copy the last digit of the error number

As stated in the instructions I referenced, the mail server name is
promail.ptd.net, NOT pop3.promail.ptd.net.
