I have a new laptop that I am quite pleased with, but I guess I am missing
something when I set up my email. Web based mail is no problem, but pop mail
can't connect. I don,t even know if that is what I mean to say, but windows
mail and comcast mail cannot be established. If you know what I am talking
about and can help me I would appreciate it.

Windows Mail is an email/newsreader program, not an email service, and
comes as part of Vista. To make it easier to start, go to your desktop,
double click on C:, then Program Files, then go down the list to Windows
Mail and double click on it. Find WinMail.exe if it's on the resulting
list, or WinMail otherwise, right click on whichever of them you found,
then click on Create Shortcut, then approve putting the shortcut on your
desktop. Close the Windows Mail window.

Now you can connect it to Comcast. Start the Windows Mail program
by double clicking on its icon. See here for the first part of the setup
procedure:

<http://help.comcast.net/content/faq/How do I configure or set up Outlook Express for email>

It was written for Outlook Express, but should also work under
Windows Mail if you avoid the One Click Fix. Now see here for
the second part:

<http://help.comcast.net/content/faq...l-for-Vista-to-use-port-587-for-sending-email>

Copy and paste the error message you are receiving here. You most likely
don't have your outgoing and incoming ports/settings correct (according to
Comcast instructions).
