email synchronization

Why do I have to delete emails from both my laptop and desktop when they are
synchronized already? I thought when I deleted from one it should also come
off the other one.

Depends how you are doing the "synchronizing"

That would only work if the accounts were IMAP, or HTTPMail. If they are
POP3, and you are "synchronizing" by leaving a copy of the message on the
POP3 server for the other computer, you are not really synchronizing, and
deleting from the one will not delete the same from the other.

Thanks fso much for that information!!! I had Best Buy set it up and yes it
is POP3. I am very computer illiterate. How can I change the settings so that
they work the way I am wanting it to?

With POP accounts you can't. One PC has no access to what the other PC
contains.

Thanks Brian. Do I understand you to say that there are no changes I can make
that will allow me to delete from one and take care of both? Why is that?

Correct, unless you use a third-party sync tool. The Outlook on one PC
cannot "talk" to the Outlook on the other PC.
