email stuck in out box

I probably attached too many files to this email. Now it is stuck in my
Outbox. I get various messages, one of which is that it timed out trying to
send. When I try to delete the email from my Outbox, either it does nothing,
or I get a message that it won't delete because Outlook has started to send
the message. This is Outlook 2003, Professional version. This constant
trying to send is slowing down my computer considerably, so any help will be
appreciated. Thanks.

Double-click the stuck email in your Outbox. Close it and then try to delete
it. If that doesn't work, open Outlook in safe mode:

Start > Run > outlook.exe /safe

Then try to delete it.

Let me know if that works. If it doesn't, when you post back please include
your version of Outlook.

- Load Outlook.
- Put Outlook in offline mode (File -> Work Offline: enable).
- Exit Outlook.
- Load Outlook in its safe mode ("outlook.exe /safe"). This ensures no
plug-ins get loaded when Outlook is loaded. Reloading Outlook in
offline mode means it won't touch the stuck item. If Outlook ever
touches the item, you cannot delete it.
- Delete the stuck item in the Outbox folder.
- Put Outlook in online mode (File -> Work Offline: disable).
- Exit Outlook.
- Reload Outlook.
