Email signatures no longer associated with email accounts

For unrelated reasons, I had to rebuild my Profile in Outlook 2003. No
problem with that, even though I have several different email accounts.
However, when I was done, I found that my signatures - I nearly have one
different signature for each mail account - are no longer specifically
associated with the correct account.

I still have the signature files. One is still set as the default and, if I
highlight it (in an outgoing email message) and right-click, I get a list of
all the signatures and can select the correct one.

Word is set as my email editor.

In Word 2003, when I click "Tools" | "Options", the "General" tab and then
the "Email options" button, I get a grayed-out list of all the signature
lines. I can't edit any of them. The entire dialog box is grayed out. The
"select the signatures associated with" drop-down box no longer lists the
accounts which are set up in Outlook. Instead, where the drop-down box should
be there appear the words "Accounts are not available."

What do I have to do to make my email accounts once again available to Word
2003. I've run the Detect and Repair and the situation did not change.

The whole mechanism worked fine, before I had to delete and rebuild my
profile.

Thanks for any ideas.

When you are in the Mail Format tab, turn off Word as the editor, and then
assign your account signatures. When you are done, turn Word back on.
