I have installed "filters" and "blocks" and it appears to have helped the
situation of unsolicited emails. But I will get an email that has secured my
name through variations.
(for example: jbrown@###.com; jbrow@###.com; jbro@###.com; my real name
would jbrown.

Any suggestions on how to block those?

Have you tried setting a filter to reject everything not specifically
addresses to the correct name?

Yes and that works.
But I get the occasional spam addressed to my "corrrect" name. If I filter
it that way, I won't get any legitimate mail.

The scammers are using the dictionary approach. I alleviated this
problem
by using a small local ISP for my email. If one uses
xxx@aol--@msn--@verizon
@bellsouth etc etc etc you are sure to get all the scams.
