When I start XP Pro and it gets to the log in screen it
tells me if I have email. How do I turn this on or off

Download XPPowerToys from the MS site and use TweakUI.

Hi,

Install the Windows XP version of TweakUI. Download it from here:
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/pro/downloads/powertoys.asp

Open TweakUI (it's in Start -> Programs -> Powertoys for Windows XP).
To disable unread mail notification:
Click "Logon" > Unread mail > uncheck "Show unread mail on Welcome
Screen"
