Thanks, JH

I am trying to send an email merge (from Excel data) to about 250 recipients.
However, I have to click OK for each email for Outlook to allow Word to send
this. Can this be overridden? I can't sit around for hours waiting and
clicking "OK".

The security update prevents any program from automating Outlook. You can
find more about the security update at
http://www.slipstick.com/outlook/esecup.htm

I suggest you try:

Alternatively, use something that doesn't need Outlook for sending.. Please
try our email scheduler (http://www.repeatmail.com) which will allow you to
send multiple individual emails, html or plain text, with attachments,
either as a one-off or regularly at a specified time and interval. The
recipients list can be drawn from your Outlook Contacts, a plain text
file,database or spreadsheet.

That's a well know Word problem. I suffered it recently and the Word MVPs
knew the answer:

Unfortunately this problem is not unknown, even on those old versions, but I
have never been able to find the underlying cause. The thing that seems to
fix the largest number of problems in this area is to do a check and repair
(i.e. Office button->[Program] Options->Resources->run Microsoft Office
Diagnostics)

Also, if you've just moved to SP1 it seems I am not the only one who has had
to save and delete Word's Data key in the registry to get some things to
work again (see http://word.mvps.org/FAQs/AppErrors/ProbsOpeningWord.htm ).

Running winword.exe /a as described in the link worked for me. Detect and
repair didn't - but it's worth doing as well.
