Something drastic has happened, no one can figure it out. I have searched for
the missing files. Symptoms are: 1. inbox and unread mail have the same
number of emails (475-ish); it seems obvious that all the server mail was
somehow automatically downloaded to my computer;
2. sent mail only from 8/25/07 all previous sent is deleted;
3. archives all gone;
4. address bk/contacts gone but do show up in the To line when typing a
recipient;
5. blocked senders have all been deleted;
6. also sent mail on earthlink server is gone; addresses gone there also.

I have no clue as to what happened. Earthlink tech support does not either.
A virus? Can anyone help? Thanks Susan

Hard to say what happened as we don't know what you did. Obviously something
has been deleted. If you can't find your original pst-file, restore it from
backup.

Thanks for the short reply. After reading some posts here I searched for
"outlook.pst" and found the following files which I could not open and got 2
error message: "cannot start Microsoft outlook" and "cannot import V calendar
file"
Files found: outlook (255 MB), Outlook1 (67.8mb), Archive 1.6GB, Archive 1
265KB, and Extend. Does this seem to be what I am looking for? I still
don't understand how my blocked senders got deleted however.
Thanks for any additional info. I can't open these files or don't know how
to do so. And I don't know where or how to find and open any backups.

You cannot open a pst file directly. Open Outlook & use File, Open OL Data
File to open and use. If you still have trouble, try creating a new profile
in control panel, mail.

THANKS MARY!
this solved the archive folder issue. I could open it without creating a
new profile. I am investigating further on the other problems. Appreciate
your input.
