Email is deleted after opened

I have Outlook 2002. When an email is opened, it is displayed normally.
When I close the email and it changes from unread to read, it disappears
from my inbox. I want to keep my opened email.

Check your view settings - sounds like you're looking only at unread mail.
Either you've set it to that view, or you've inadvertently customized the
Messages view.
