Open Messag in Inbox and lose message

When I open the email from the inbox and then "X" out of the message, it
normally remained in the inbox until I deleted it, now when I "X" out of the
email it disappears, not in the deleted files...Gone....Help.

Have you accidentally filtered your view? Click on View, Current View and
what should be ticked off is Messages. Perhaps yours is set inadvertently to
Unread Messages? It doesn't delete your emails but hides them once they're
read.

When I click on "Messages" it just shows the date and time and it used to
show whom it was from. When I click on "Messages w/Aut Preview" everything
works perfectly.

Any ideas?

Is your From field not showing anymore? It's possible that it was
accidentally deleted but you can get that back. The instructions to do this
would depend upon your version of Outlook, what version are you using?

Or if you feel confident enough, you can open Outlook with the cleanviews
switch which will restore everything to default views:

Start > Run > outlook.exe /cleanviews
