I want to store my emails outside outlook on a cd and
can't figure out how to get outlook to do this except as a
CSV file. Is there a way to make this a document readable
in word? Or something a little easier to work with than
excel?

The only way is to export a pst (Personal file folder) file to read and open
only in Outlook.

The way I store my mail on CD is simply to burn a copy of my PST on the CD.
If I ever want to view it again, I copy it back to my hard drive, remove the
read-only attribute, and open it in Outlook with File>Open>Outlook Data
File.
