I'm getting the above error message with a "logon" box asking to verify that
my username and password are correct. Its the first time this logon box has
appeared and I can't get past it....any ideas?
Many thanks.

Vista Email can't send or receive

Mine, too. Using Windows Mail, 64-bit Vista, Bellsouth.Net, POP3, SMTP,
Inbound port 465, outbound port 995. Was receiving email fine yesterday on
Vista, today I get the stupid message about "Connection terminated."

Funny thing is, today using my old computer (WinXP) and Outlook Express,
sitting side-by-side with the Vista machine, I can send and receive email
fine, USING THE SAME SETTINGS AS IN VISTA. Makes me think something in
64-bit VISTA is screwing up.

Found this several questions down on main thread and tried it, I had used
port number 465 instead of 25 as advised on a set up tutorial. It worked
fine for a month and suddenly today it no longer worked. Switched it to 80
today, problem solved. But strange that other accounts are not having
trouble, guess they will crash tomorrow, lol. Odd that so many other folks
are having same problem at same time. Almost sounds like a something that a
virus would do...
then change port 25 to port 80. Click OK. Try sending.

Oops, mistook name for title.

Anyway, I found out why no email -- the culprit was "ID Vault." Lenovo
stuck a trial version of it in the system I bought and this morning, for no
good reason, I let it install itself. Bad move. Soon as I un-installed it,
email starting working again.

For the record, my email via AT&T needs SSL to send and receive, sending out
on 465 and receiving on 995.

Thanks for your report.
Windows Mail doesn't seem to like some third party utilities.

9/8/09 I am getting the same request tonight and have never had that happen.
Did virus scan, found nothing. I use Norton.

If you want some custom help, right-click on your error message, copy,
then paste it into a reply here.
Make sure Norton is not configured to scan emails.
