Email Displays Slowly in Preview Pane

Running Windows XP and Office XP. When moving from one
email message to another in any of the mailboxes, the
display of the message in the Preview Pane has gotten
very slow. The data file isn't that large and I have
compacted the file.
 
Try Tools>Options>other and uncheck "Enable Instant Messag..."
