Email disappearing after being opened

I have an issue with emails that are disappearing after a user opens up the
email. This email usually has a .pdf file attachment and what happens is
when the user double clicks on the email, there is a notification window that
says "operation failed" and then the email disappears. It does not go into
the deleted or stay in this person's inbox. I am curious to know if anyone
may have a fix for this. Adobe is currently the most recent, and office has
all the updates with it.

Any help would be nice. He is using Office 2003 SP3.

Yes. I believe the report gets emailed to him everyday and it is the same
filename as well.

Have you checked the event viewer for any Office or Outlook related errors?

Have you tried recreating the Outlook profile?

I think I found the problem. Under the Junk Email Options, there is a radial
button that was checked that had the option "Permanent delete suspected junk
e-mail instead of moving it to Junk Email Folder". I unchecked that and I
believe this has fixed the problem.

Thanks for your help with all your tips!

That doesn't seem correct because the Junk E-mail filter operates well before
the point where the message can be opened. The Junk E-mail filter never runs
AFTER the message has been opened.

If you are not sure if the end user has modified the built-in views, you can
always start outlook 1 time with the /cleanviews command line switch. This
will delete all custom views and reset the built-in ones back to their
defaults.
