Email Auto-linking Failure

Hi!

I am running BCM on three machines and the problem is apparent on all three.
When I open the Email Auto-linking box, only about 70 contacts appear out of
1985 in total.

As new contacts are created they seem to be added to the list, but not the
old ones.

I've tried reinstalling BCM, repairing the database and creating a new
database from an export of contacts, clearing the form cache and renaming the
extend, frmcache and outcmd dat files. Nothing changes.

Is there some cap to the number of contacts or can someone suggest a solution?

I was researching using BCM today, and read about this issue (I think) in
the Help from Outlook 2003. When you first open Help, you can click on Table
of Contents, and BCM was there. I was just browsing, but I remember reading
about how after sharing a DB, you have to manually re-link all the
previously linked email, something like that. Sorry to be so vague, your
question was not exactly what I was researching. If I find the answer
tomorrow, I will reply again.

In Help Called Effects of sharing your Business Contact Manager database on
E-Mail Auto-Linking

Maybe this will help....Susan

E-mail Auto-linking
The E-mail Auto-linking feature provides users with a way to link incoming
and outgoing e-mail messages (including meeting requests and assigned tasks)
to a specified Account or Business Contact record. Auto-linking
considerations are different for multiple users sharing the same Business
Contact Manager database than for a single user accessing the database.

Multiple Users
Because e-mail messages can be shared accidentally and result in
confidential information distributed unintentionally, when the database is
shared, all e-mail addresses that have been enabled to link automatically to
an Account or Business Contact record are deleted from the database, and new
e-mail addresses are excluded from auto-linking. To link e-mail messages
automatically after switching from single to multiple user, you need to add
any e-mail addresses that you want to link to existing and newly created
Account and Business Contact and records.

Single User
Because unshared databases are presumed to be secure, when a database is not
shared, all e-mail addresses are automatically enabled for auto-linking.

Note Changing the database status has no effect on the e-mail messages that
are already linked; these messages will not be deleted when the address
links are cleared.
