Can anyone tell me how to stop a person's email address from showing on the
email send bar, instead of just their name as some people do not want thier
address to show and I have tried everything and can not stop it. Any help
would be greatly appreciated.

Use BCC

Sorry I have no idea what you are talking about, I get the gist of the blind
carbon copy but can not find it on my help pages or anywhere else. This is
driving me insane.

So you have done a search for BCC on Windows Mail help
and found nothing?

Whatever...
Here are the instructions copied from WLM...
They are not much different from WM

To send a new e-mail message:
Click the Mail icon .
To create a new e-mail message, on the Windows Live Mail Beta toolbar, click
New.
If you have multiple e-mail accounts set up and you want to send e-mail from
one other than your default account, click the From box, and then select the
e-mail account that you want to use.
In the To box, type the e-mail address of each recipient, separating each
address with a comma or a semicolon. Matching e-mail addresses from your
contacts are displayed as you type. You can also do any of the following:

To send Cc (Carbon Copy: sends a copy of the e-mail.) and Bcc (Blind Carbon
Copy: sends a copy of the e-mail, but conceals the recipient's e-mail
address from other recipients.) copies of the e-mail message, click Show Cc
& Bcc, and then type the e-mail addresses that you want to copy the e-mail
message to.
To add e-mail addresses from your address book (A list of contacts, that
contains the names, addresses, phone numbers, and e-mail addresses of each
of your contacts. If you're signed in with a Windows Live ID, Mail Beta uses
the contacts list associated with your Windows Live ID.) , next to To, Cc,
and Bcc, click the Address book icon , select the contacts or groups that
you want to send mail to, click To, Cc, or Bcc, and then click OK.
To add e-mail addresses from a contacts directory (A shared online address
book that contains contact information about the people in a particular
organization, allowing users with access to the directory the ability to
find the e-mail address and other details of anyone in the directory.
Usually accessed using the LDAP protocol.) , next to To, Cc, and Bcc, click
the Address book icon , and then click Look in Contact directories.
To check a name in a contacts directory that you've added, in the To, Cc, or
Bcc box, type the name of the person that you want to send an e-mail to, and
then click the Check names button .

If Windows Live Mail Beta finds the name in the contacts directory, the name
in the e-mail message is replaced with the individual's e-mail address.

In the Subject box, type a message title.
Type your message, and then click Send.

Julian, thank you for trying to help but what I am looking to do is not have
the person's email address show up in the To spot, just their name. In
outlook just the person's name name was up there like John Doe now it's
coming up (e-mail address removed) and I am trying to stop it from doing that.

"some people do not want thier address to show and I have tried everything
and can not stop it."

When you send an email, a person's name is changed to their email address.
If your email program shows names, the addresses can be viewed by going to
the properties of the email or saving the name to the address book.
The only way for the email address to not be visible to the recipients of an
email is to put your name in the To field and the recipients names
(addresses) in the BCC field.
BCC names (addresses) are removed from the email by the email server, so
even looking at the properties of an email will not show addresses.

It's a matter of the program reading the mail. The email address is there,
but some programs don't show it, like Outlook Express (I don't know
Outlook). If you look at the properties of the message with a program that
doesn't show the address, you will see that the address is actually there.

You need to distinguish between what *you* see (when composing)
with what the recipient sees.

Is your objection only concerned with what *you* see while
composing the email? If so, there is nothing that can be done
about it, except for switching to a different email program like
WLM or Outlook. It's a fleeting cosmetic thing anyway. By the
time that message gets send, it will look identical to what it
would have looked like if sent by Outlook Express.

Gary, thank you so much, but yes the email addresses are showing on receipt
to whoever I send them, so I guess it's back to Outlook. Again I appreciate
your help, it beats someone telling me to just not send emails!!

It doesn't sound like you understood what I said. Aside from 'Bcc' usage,
whether the 'To' or 'Cc' email address is visible or not on a received
message is a function of the receiving email client, and has nothing
to do with the sending email client.

Wildchild's original post stated, "some people do not want thier address to
show and I have tried everything
and can not stop it."
Yet when BCC was mentioned, wildchild didn't know what BCC was and couldn't
find blind carbon copy in Help.
It also seems that wildchild was not seeing all of the replies. I attribute
that to using the Web access.

Did you ever find out how to do a Blind Carbon Copy (Bcc) using Vista? I
can't figure it out. I usually have to use Outlook when I send 1 email to
several people & it's pretty annoying. Most folks don't want their info
shared with others so it's extra steps to achieve this. If you found out how
to do in Vista please let me know.
Thanks

I just found out how to do a Bcc using Vista. In the new message box click
the To or Cc and it will open to your addesses/contacts. On the right side
you see To, Cc, & Bcc. Click on Bcc if you want to hide the email addresses
of a long list that you might be sending something to. You'll see the names
and email addresses but when it's sent only the person receiving the message
will see his/her own address & the others keep their privacy.

If you only list recipients in your Bcc option, and not in To or Cc, then
the message will arrive with no other recipient's name visible....and will
display 'Undisclosed Recipients'

And some ISPs will reject anything without a valid address in the To field.

Wildchild, you have my sympathies. I understand your question because I've
been struggling with the exact same problem, i.e., real name AND e-mail
address showing up on the To and From lines. My name in the From line also
displays my e-mail address. The thread is too long and confusing for me to
understand. (BCc is not the solution.) Did you ever get this quirk solved? If
so, please advise me. Thanks
