Email address updates in contacts but old address still used

For the last 2 months, if I change the Email address in my contacts folder,
it shows it updated in contacts, address book, or clicking on the name in a
message to be sent or the sent copy. But Outlook doggedly sends the actual
message to the old Email address. Does anyone know how to fix this? I have
even uninstalled and reinstalled Office (and therefore Outlook) with no
beneficial result.

The answer would lie in the method you are using for sending the message and
the version of Outlook you are using, which we cannot discern from your
post. Also, please mention whether you are using autocompletion and/or
autoresolution in your profile.

Thanks for reply. I'm using Outlook 2000 version 9.0.0.2711. I had in fact
applied all the updates and I was afraid one of them had caused this problem,
which is why I reverted to the original installation disc as I knew (I
thought) that it worked OK with this version. But whatever is the bug stayed
with me.

I am using broadband via a network connection to send, though I'm the only
one on the local network. I've selected HTML format rather than plain or rich
text.

I'm not sure what you mean by autocompletion or autoresolution and can't
find in Outlook help........but I do have automatic name checking turned on.

Thanks for reply. I'm using Outlook 2000 version 9.0.0.2711. I had in fact
applied all the updates available in the hopes of solving the problem but it
didn't. I then decided to revert to the original installation as I knew it
worked OK when I first installed. Unfortunately though, the bug stayed with
me.

I use broadband via a router and local network connection to send though I'm
the only one on the network and therefore the network administrator. I send
in HTML rather than plain or rich text.

I'm not sure what you mean by autocompletion or autoresolotion but I do have
automatic name checking turned on (and always have).

Thanks - this implied a nickname file corruption as you know, so I replaced
it with a backup copy that predated the problem and I think it's OK now! If
not I'll apply the clean up recommended.
