I'm sure there is some physical limit to how much text can be inserted
into any field within a program. After all, even if it used all of your
memory and hard disk space those are limited, too. It is very likely
that you will hit your ISP's limit long before you hit your e-mail
client's limit. For example, Hotmail limits the total number of
recipients listed in the To, CC, and BCC fields to 50 (it might've been
100 but they've reduced that to slow down spammers using their webmail
service). Some IPSs limit the max total number of recipients to 50, or
25, or maybe less. Check with your ISP to see what is their maximum.
These limits are usually on a per-email basis but often there is also a
daily max limit (which is rarely divulged until you contact your ISP's
support).

A: That depends on the client platform. The Win16 limit is smaller than the
Win32 limit, but we have tested with 1500+ on Win16 and 2000+ on Win32.
These are total recipients because we count To:, Cc:, and Bcc: objects,
although Distribution Lists count as 1. There is no hard limit, it is based
on the amount of memory available on the client computer.

A: There is not an exact number of contacts that you can add in a DL, the
limit is based on the total size of the contacts. If you use the very basic
information for contacts (for example, only the name and the e-mail
address), your DL limit may be 125 to 130 contacts. On average, the number
of contacts that you can add to a DL is limited between 50 and 70 contacts,
but for some user who have contacts that contain a large amount of data,
the DL limit can only be as little as 25 contacts. The DL limit is also
based on the property size limit of the Microsoft Exchange server. The
property size limit for an change server is about 8 kilobytes (KB). The
Exchange server stores all contact links in one property store, so the DL
limit depends on the contact's name length and the size of the entry ID
(the type of e-mail address and the length), on average.
