Email account not in the list

I transferred my 2003 settings to a new machine with vista but my main
account is faulty.

however, when I look in the email account list it isn't there!

The IMAP folders are there in the folder list, but I can't get to any of the
settings. If I try to create a new account using the same name it says that I
can't because I have an account with that name already!

Any ideas how I can delete this account so I can set it up again?

Many thanks

Luds

That tool won't transfer OL accounts, and often fails to transfer Outlook
data properly at all. Try the Office 2003 Save My Settings Wizard in the
Microsoft Office Tools program group.

Sorry...I've mislead you here by not being explicit enough.

The settings were from outlook 2003...but I've got 2007 on my new vista
machine.

I don't know of any way to transfer the account settings. However, it's
simply a matter of about 30-40 seconds per account to set them up manually.
Moreover, when installing OL 2007, it's a good idea to create your new mail
profile manually as well, and adding your account(s) would be part of that.

Thing is, Brian, I've got my main account that's gone funny! It's IMAP
folders are in the folder list, but it isn't listed in the accounts settings
list.

I can't create another account to overwrite it...it won't let me.
Can't delete the IMAP folders as it says that they are linked to an email
account and I need to get rid of them via the account settings list.
I've tried deleting registry and .pst files for the account, but Outlook
recreates them when I open up the program.
Was advised somewhere else to alter things via Mail in the Control
Panel...but that just takes me to the Account Settings dialogue box that
Outlook presents me with!!

Getting a bit desperate as this email address is my main business one and
although I can receive emails to it, I can't send using it as it's not in the
account list!

.....actually.....just had a brain wave.......new profile rather than try to
edit the existing Outlook one!..... shouldn't take too long to re-enter
account details as you say.

You need a new mail profile, then. Control Panel>Mail>Show Profiles>Add.
