Hello. I am running Outlook 2003.
I was formerly running Windows Mail but it had too many problems and doesn't
sync with Blackberry well at atll.
I have duplicated the configuration ---- I have two Email accounts, one from
an Exchange Server and one an Internet address. I am able to use both and
download properly -- all seems fine.
In my Views, I want to cluster email messages according to Email Accounts.
Outlook separates the two groupings of emails (one set of emails for each
account) properly. BUT(!) it says the exact same account name for both
groupings.
In my email account settings, I have ensured that the accountnames are
different throughout.
One aspect, however, the PC's user id is the same name as one of the
accounts, but this never seemed a problem under Windows Mail.

Many thanks for any advice.

In my Views, I want to cluster email messages according to Email
Accounts.

Does "cluster" mean sort? Is this sorting in the list of e-mails in
the message list pane? Or are you asking about the hierarchical
structure of the tree pane and the node names?

each
account) properly.

Okay, now it's groups.

What is an "Internet address"? Is a POP or IMAP e-mail account?
Outlook aggregates Exchange and POP accounts into the same message
store. Each IMAP account, I believe, as well as each HTTP account
gets its own message store.

Each message store shows as its own "group" in the tree pane. Are the
"groups" to which you refer the different 1st-level nodes in the tree
pane (to show the separate message stores)? If so, and for your
Exhange account to be shown separate of your "Internet address"
account then it seems that your "Internet Address" account must be an
IMAP or HTTP account; otherwise, for a POP account, it gets rolled
into the same message store as Exchange accounts.
BUT(!) it says the exact same account name for both
groupings.

Is that the title of the node in the tree pane? Or is that the name
of the account as shown in the E-mail Account column (once you add it
in a view)?
In my email account settings, I have ensured that the accountnames
are
different throughout.

The node's title in the tree is not whatever you named the account in
its definition. When you define rules, you will see those account
names. If you add the E-mail Account column to a view, you will see
those account names.

To rename the message store nodes in the tree, right-click on the root
node for a message store, Properties, General tab, Advanced, and
rename it there.

Thanks very much for the response.

Sorry. I just mean sorting the messages in the message list pane.

One address is an Exchange Server address , and the Internet address is one
that links to a yahoo-operated domain. The internet one is a POP, so maybe
this is the prob....

The node's title in the tree is not whatever you named the account in
its definition. When you define rules, you will see those account
names. If you add the E-mail Account column to a view, you will see
those account names.

In my Outlook settings, I named the Exchange Server Account as
"EXCHMAIL" and it accesses the email from a company server.
The POP Account has been named "PERSMAIL" and accesses mail from my yahoo
account and domain.
Everything arrives properly.
In the view pane, I add the Email Account column but all the messages
(regardless of account) say that they belong to the PERSMAIL (POP) account.
Weird, because when I double-click on the sort option and the selected
filter is displayed above all the messages (Email Account ^) indicating
that it has sorted the emails into two sets, I look below and the two sets
are correct -- the Exchange email messages are all together in one group,
and the Pop email messages are bunched together in another. But the name
of the Email account listed for both sets is "PERSMAIL". And the column
filter (Email Account) says PERSMAIL for every email message, not just the
POP email.

Sorry if I'm not explaining this very well.

Unfortunately I no longer connect to an Exchange server to test your
configuration. I would think that if you can edit the name of an
account (and retain that rename) then that is the value that would
show in the Email Account column in the view of a folder. It sounds
like what I expect to happen is what you also expected.

As a test, you might want to use a couple of rules that check through
which account an e-mail was received. If received through the
Exchange account, assign that e-mail to the "Exchange" category. If
received through your POP account, assign that e-mail to the "Yahoo
Mail" category. Then add the Categories column to the view pane and
see if the correct category is listed for each email regarding through
which account it was received.
