eliminating pop ups : security

Is there any new software that is available to download
to eliminate all the pop-ups that plauge my computer
erverytime I log on ..with or with out the internet
connected >.

Generalized answer to your question is YES, however
having said that I offer the following: Some of these
programs tend to be sledge hammer approaches and
literally kill even things you would want to see. Go to a
good search engine and do a search on "software" "popup"
and you'll get several hits in places like tucows.com and
similiar. I don't recommend any specific software as I
don't know what you're running now and what your needs
are. From time to time, depending of which O/S you have
if you feel comfortable doing it, go in an delete all the
accumulated cookies, temp files, temp internet files and
similiar that are probably part of your present
annoyance. There are cleaner programs on the market if
you don't feel comfortable doing it by hand. Hope this
