EIDE vs. ATA performance?

Hello,

I've read the specs on the ATA vs. EIDE drives. I'm curious if anyone
has actually tested an ATA on the same motherboard as they have an
EIDE and noticed a difference. Of course I'm talking about similar
hard drives 7200, 8mb, 100+gig.

If there is a better newsgroup for this please let me know.

What do you mean by "ATA vs EIDE"? In the context of hard disks they're
for all practical purposes the same thing. Do you perhaps mean SATA vs
parallel ATA?

Are you talking about a comparison of Serial ATA contra Parallell ATA?

No, he doesn't have a clue.

They must still use the word EIDE on retail boxes for the noobs.

No such animal with EIDE. Its just an obsolete term now.

IDE is just another name for ATA.

You're massively confusing SATA and ATA drives. The
last is an ATA drive, even tho some stupid monkey has
used EIDE quite a bit on that page. Have a look at
http://www.wdc.com/en/products/Products.asp?DriveID=42
and you'll find the correct term ATA used.
