Editpad Lite problem

ms

EditpadLite has been working fine up to last hour, in editing several
text files.

I cut text from a file, when I exit, the file size reduces accordingly.
Everything normal.

An hour ago, cut the last text from the file, exited, file size was
unchanged, reopened the file, the text was still there. Select all,
delete, the text still there.

I shut down, warm boot, same result.

I opened the file in another text editor, select all, delete, everything
normal.

Why is delete suddenly not working in Editpad Lite?

Is the file perhaps set to read only? If it is, EditPad Lite will /not/
allow you to edit it. Try right clicking on the file, select properties,
and ensure "read only" is not selected.

By default, it will prompt you notifying you of a file being read only,
but this notification can be disabled after the first time it pops up --
if that's the case, then it wouldn't warn you further. It simply let the
file sit there, tormenting you quietly :)

Some editors will allow you to edit read only files, but you still won't
be able to save with them. EditPad saves you the trouble and won't let you
type.

Probably doesn't apply in your case, but sometimes programs that remap
keyboards or use key combinations for their own use will screw up other
programs.

For example, whenever I use UAS my F2 key that I normally use to re-edit a
file name goes wonky, cuz UAS uses that combo for something while its
running. Same with Powerpro. . .

Allen, that was the first thing I checked, but the file had not changed,
it was set as archive as it should be. Editpad Classic worked fine on
the same file. But I'm back to comparing text editors that can open
large files. Even CryptEdit does not like large files, and The Gun is
too limited. Maybe later when I do some registry cleaning, Editpad Lite
will work normally again.

I never used keyboard remapping, sounds a little risky.

Besides handling large file sizes, what are the other features and functions
that interest you?

Do you have preference for SDI or MDI? And if MDI, do you prefer tabbed
interface?

The one part that I am presuming so far. You consider small footprint
important. And that you need one of those weightier text applications,
that has syntax highlighting and templates and so on.
