Is there some freeware that allows you to edit video recording? I already
have the corresponding image in my hard drive.
For example I would like to remove commercials and unwanted scenes from
some TV shows before burning the DVD.

If you are using windows xp, try windows movie maker 2 at
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/downloads/updates/moviemaker2.mspx
otherwise try searching google for something like "free movie editing
software"

Maybe VirtualDub can do what you need:
