Editing the audio of a video file

Hi - I made a video of a wedding - unfortuneately the audio is very 'echo-y'
and I need to remove the echo to be able to properly hear the speeches.
I have saved the video as an audio file: .WMA file. Does anybody know of any
freeware that can be used to remove the echo on the file now?????

You could also try the trial programmes of the big name audio editors, but
beware, audio editing is much harder than video!!!!!!!!
